BIO:
Hello, my name is Diana Marie Ditto Jones. I was born in Brandenburg, KY, but I have lived in Louisville, KY for the last 28 years of my life. I am the third of five children, definitely the middle child. I graduated from Meade County High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Louisville. I retired from Jefferson County/Louisville Metro Police Department with twenty years of service. I worked sixteen years as a Domestic Violence Detective. As a Domestic Violence Detective, I worked with many community partners to bring domestic violence defendants to justice and to hold them accountable for their actions. Another important part of my job was to advocate for the victims and work with domestic violence advocates to stop recidivism of domestic violence in the lives of victims. Currently, I work as a Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County Sheriff Department. I strive to be the best that I can be, and I believe that you are never too old to try new things. I am fifty- six years old. After retirement, I became a Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County Sheriff Department. In my current position, as a Deputy Sheriff, I engage with a diverse group of people to include judges, prosecutors, court clerks, inmates, and the general public. My job affords me the opportunity to see people at their worst and sometimes at their best. As a Deputy Sheriff, I have the opportunity to interact with inmates and speak with them about making a change. I emphasize that one bad decision does not have to define the rest of their life. I work with inmates from all backgrounds of life. My work is rewarding because I have an opportunity to plant a seed and present a positive way-forward or other alternatives. I think my words are received, because I strive to treat each inmate with respect and dignity and not make pre-judgements about what the inmates did or did not do. I believe that it is our obligation to give back to our community in some way. I believe my chosen profession as a law enforcement officer, has afforded me a platform to do just that. But prior to my job, as a police officer, I volunteered at The Home of the Innocents. As a volunteer, I visited with teenage young ladies, to talk and to listen to them. At the time, I was a flight attendant. During my travels, I would purchase post cards from the different locations that I visited, and bring those back to the young ladies, to let them see that there was a world outside of their circumstances and surroundings. I emphasized to them, that if I could see and do these exciting things, so could they. I always left them with the idea that they could become whomever and go wherever their dreams could take them. I am also a former Big Sister of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kentucky. During my time as a Big Sister, I had the great pleasure of serving on the Board of Directors. In 1996, I was awarded the Sister to Sister Award. I am a wife, of a retired educator and a mother of a wonderful, eleven- year old son, who I had at the young age of forty- four. Marrying my soulmate and having my son are the greatest accomplishments of my life. I am a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. I work tirelessly as a member of my childhood church, Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. I am the church clerk, a church trustee, the assistant Sunday School superintendent and a choir member. As I mentioned, I am fifty-six years old, and I have been fascinated with modeling and the fashion industry for many years. I initially thought that I wanted to become a buyer; thus, my choice of Marketing as my major in college. I worked with several modeling agencies over the years to include, Cosmo Talent and Model Agency in Louisville, KY, John Casablanca’s Model and Talent Management in Columbus, OH, Vogue Models Inc. and MJK Studio/Models &Talent Agency, both also in Louisville, KY. I feel that becoming the Face of the 2020 Face of America Contest will expose me to a broader audience, to continue spreading my positive message by opening doors to help me fulfill my dream of modeling and acting. I feel that I will give both young and mature women the encouragement and motivation to never stop believing and to know that there is a big, wide world full of opportunities; so never ever limit yourself and go hard for what you want, because “the sky is the limit”.
